Srinivas University Hosts ATAL FDP Workshop on Next-Generation Energy Storage Technologies
Mangaluru, Nov 21, 2024: The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at Srinivas University Institute of Engineering & Technology (SUIET), Mukka, inaugurated a six-day skill-enhancing Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Next Generation Energy Storage: Integrating Advanced Electronics and Sensor Technologies” on its Mukka campus. The workshop, sponsored by the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy, aims to empower faculty and students with cutting-edge insights into energy storage and advanced technologies.
The program was inaugurated by Dr. T. Govindaraju, scientist and recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar and National Technology Awards. Dr Govindaraju, who heads the Bioorganic Chemistry Laboratory at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, lit the lamp to mark the event’s commencement.
Vice Chancellor Prof. K. Satyanarayan Reddy presided over the function, emphasizing the transformative role of advanced technologies in energy conservation and storage.
In his keynote address, Dr. Govindaraju highlighted the critical importance of energy conservation, storage, and sustainable development, identifying energy, environment, and education as the pillars of national growth. He underlined the government’s focus on fast-tracking technological advancements under initiatives like the quantum mission.
Dr. Ramakrishna N. Hegde, Dean of SUIET Mukka, noted India’s rising prominence in intellectual property and patent filing, emphasizing the value of workshops like the ATAL FDP in fostering research and skill development.
Prof. Naveen Kumar J R, Head of the Electronics & Communication Engineering Department and FDP Coordinator, delivered the keynote address, while Dr. Praveen B M, FDP Co-coordinator and Director of Research at Srinivas University, extended a warm welcome to the participants.
The event also featured a presidential address by Prof. Satyanarayan Reddy, who discussed advancements in energy storage technologies, including smart grids, self-healing batteries, and green energy solutions.
The event began with an invocation by Miss Aashu Uday Gaonkar, followed by the introduction of the chief guest by Prof. Shrinath Rao K. The program was compered by Prof. Rohan Fernandes and Prof. Shwetha Pai, while Prof. Shilpa S. delivered the vote of thanks.
