Power and Perils: Prof. Shailesh Kumar Delves into Telecommunication’s Impact
Ujire, May 26, 2023: In a special lecture program organized by the Department of Physics at Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) College Ujire, Prof. Shailesh Kumar, the head of the computer science department, shed light on the significance of World Telecommunication Day.
The event emphasized the transformative impact of telecommunication on global connectivity.
During his insightful speech, Prof. Kumar acknowledged how telecommunication has effectively diminished the boundaries that once separated nations. The ability to instantaneously transmit news and events from any corner of the world was highlighted as a remarkable achievement. However, he cautioned the audience about the potential pitfalls of excessive reliance on telecommunication devices.
“Despite the numerous benefits, it is crucial to recognize that mankind has become enslaved by these very devices,” Prof. Kumar stated, urging students to exercise restraint in their usage. His advice aimed to foster a balanced approach to technology, encouraging individuals to utilize telecommunication tools responsibly.
The lecture was presided over by Prof. S. N. Kakatkar, Head of the Department of Physics.
In addition to the lecture, the program also recognized the winners of the Gurutva-2K23 Fest.
