Ujire, Feb 102, 2025: “Science is often perceived as a difficult subject, leading many to shift their focus elsewhere. However, with a keen interest, determination, and capability, anything is achievable,” said Belalu Gram Panchayat President Vidya Srinivas Gowda.

She was speaking at the 17th edition of the ‘SDM Nenapinangala’ alumni interaction series, organized by the alumni association of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College, Ujire, on January 29. During the event, a scholarship of ₹5,000 was awarded to talented second-year B.Com student Shivananada.

Warning students against falling into bad habits, Gowda remarked, “Children today are increasingly being influenced by negative influences, often due to their surroundings. It is crucial to resist such temptations, which is entirely within your control.”

Presiding over the event, College Principal Dr. B.A. Kumar Hegde highlighted that the ‘Nenapinangala’ initiative celebrates the achievements of alumni and serves as a guiding light for current students. He also announced that former students have contributed ₹5 lakh towards the college’s mid-day meal program.

Alumni Association President Peetambar Heraje and program coordinator Dr. M.P. Srinath were present on the dais.

Dr. Divakar Kokkad, faculty member of the Kannada department, delivered the welcome address, while Biotechnology department professor Dikshit Rai proposed the vote of thanks. Political Science faculty member Shivakumar P.P. compered the event.
