Srinivas University to confer Doctor of Letters on Sri Vidyaprasanna Tirtha Swamiji and M.S. Mahabaleshwara
Mangaluru, April 17, 2023: Srinivas University will organize its 5th Annual Convocation on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 9:30 am, at Srinivas University Campus, Mukka, Surathkal. Sri Vidyaprasanna Tirtha Swamiji, Pontiff of the Kukke Subramanya Matha, and M.S. Mahabaleshwara, Former Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Karnataka Bank Ltd., will be conferred with the degree of Doctor of Letters. The day’s chief guest will be Dr. M.K. Ramesh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.
Over 1050 students, comprising 794 UG students and 256 PG students, will be awarded degrees at the convocation. The 125 ranks, including 33 gold medals, 12 PhD, 3 DSc, and 2 DLitt degrees, will be conferred at the event.
Dr. A Raghavendra Rao, Chancellor of Srinivas University and President of A Shama Rao Foundation Mangaluru, will preside over the convocation. Also present on the dais will be Dr. A Srinivas Rao (Pro-Chancellor, Srinivas University, and Vice President of Srinivas Group of Institutions), A Vijayalakshmi R Rao (Trustee-Member, Board of Governors, Srinivas University), Prof A Mitra S Rao (Trustee-Member, Board of Governors, Srinivas University), Padmini Kumar (Trustee-Member, Board of Governors, Srinivas University), Dr. P.S. Aithal (Vice Chancellor), Dr. Anil Kumar (Registrar), Dr. Srinivas Mayya (Registrar – Evaluation), Dr. Ajay Kumar (Registrar – Development), and Shri Adithya Kumar Maiya (Registrar – Academic).
Dr. A Raghavendra Rao started the first educational institution, Srinivas College of Hotel Management, in 1988. Today, more than 12,000 students are pursuing their higher education at Srinivas University and Srinivas Group of Institutions, which has established many milestones in the quality education in the field of Healthcare, Medical, Dental, Para-Medical, Allied Health Sciences, Hotel Management, Engineering & Technology, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Aviation studies, Social Sciences & Humanities, Management & Commerce, Education, Sanskrit, and Yoga.
Shri Vidyaprasanna Tirtha Swamiji is the 38th pontiff of Kukke Subrahmanya Matha, which has expanded its reach under his guidance with centers in Bangalore and Bombay. Besides being an efficient administrator, his amiable personality has attracted many devotees.
Swamiji completed Nyaya Sudhamangala, a graduate-level study of Hindu Scriptures, under Sri Vishwesha Teertharu’s tutelage. As the pontiff, he worships the Samputa Narasimha every day, educating his students on Hindu Scriptures. Swamiji holds degrees in Ancient Law, Vedanta, Sanskrit Grammar, Modern Law, and an MA in Sanskrit. He believes in the importance of education and created Sri Gopala Krishna High School and a Sanskrit Gurukul for underprivileged children.
Swamiji is actively serving the community, with the Gopala Krishna High School being a testament to his efforts.
M.S. Mahabaleshwara is a multi-talented personality, who has served as the Non-Executive Chairman of KBL Services Ltd., CEO, MD, and Director of Karnataka Bank Ltd.
Additionally, he is the President of Bankers Club, Chairman of Southern Indian Banks Staff Training College, and an Associate and Member-Governing Council at the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance. He has also served as a Member of The Chairmans Club in his past career. Mahabaleshwara is a graduate of The University of Agricultural Sciences and St. Aloysius College.
