IMD issues red alert for Coastal districts till July 9
Udupi, July 07, 2022: The IMD has issued a red alert for Coastal districts till July 9 morning.
According to the IMD bulletin issued at 1 pm, Rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka.
Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts are likely to experience extremely heavy rain (above 204.5 mm) till 8.30 am on July 9.
According to IMD in the last 24 hours, Kollur (Udupi district) received the highest- 21 cm rain.
Very heavy rainfall (in cms): Siddapura (Udupi dt) 18; Tumri (Shivamogga dt) 17; Linganamakki Hms (Shivamogga dt) 16; Koppa (Chikkamagaluru dt) 15; Subramanya (Dakshina Kannada dt) 14; Agarahara Konanduru (Shivamogga dt), Sringeri Hms (Chikkamagaluru dt) 13 each; Yellapur, Shirali, Kumta, Manki, Honavar (all Uttara Kannada dt), Bhagamandala (Kodagu dt) 12 each.
Fisheries Warning: Squally weather with wind speed reaching 45-50 Kmph gusting to 65 kmph is likely to prevail over Kerala Karnataka coast. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
High wave warning (issued by INCOIS Karnataka): High waves in the range of 3.5 – 4.5 meters are predicted till 2330 hours of 08-07-2022 along the coast from Mangalore to Karwar of Karnataka coast. Current speeds vary between 50 – 75 cm/sec.
