Mangaluru, May 20, 2022: The Students’ Association of Marine Engineering (AIMES) of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil organized a Technical talk on “Career opportunities in the Merchant Navy” on May 19.

Rajamohan, Chief Engineer, Dean, RLINS Madurai was the chief guest.

Presiding over the programme, Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, Principal told the students to look for the opportunities at sea by joining courses like GME and asked them to make use of opportunities provided by institutes like RLINS to start their career.

Dr. Shankar KS, HOD of Mechanical and Marine Engineering, SIT, Mangaluru addressed the students and talked about shipping as one of the job opportunities in the core sector for both Marine and Mechanical students and motivated them to make use of placement opportunities provided by the college.

The chief guest in his talk addressed the students on the employment situation in India for engineers and the growing demand for jobs in the shipping sector. He also compared the salary structure and professional growth for both onshore and shipping industries. He then went on to explain various facilities in RLINS, which trains the students to be best Marine Engineers in the industry.

Prof. Tony K Sebastian, AIMES Faculty Advisor, Prof. Chandra Jogi, In-charge HOD of Marine Engineering and faculty members of various departments were present.

Sheethal, third year Marine Engineering welcomed the gathering. Sumanth, third year Marine Engineering delivered vote of thanks. Sahana HS, third year Marine Engineering compered the program.
