Udupi, May 20, 2022: Heavy downpour has partially damaged four houses in Udupi district.

Udupi and nearby districts have been experiencing heavy rain for the last 4-5 days. It has been raining throughout the day in most of the parts of the district.

Officials said that the house of Shekhar Shettigar, Muttu, Sannamma of Kundapur Taluk, and Lakshmi of Karkala Taluk were partially damaged.

The district received an average of 83.9 mm.

Byndoor Taluk received the highest 130.8 mm rainfall and Kaup received the lowest 57.2 mm. While Udupi Taluk recorded 83.7 mm, Brahmavar, Karkala and Hebri recorded 85.2 mm, 57.9 mm, and 76.9 mm respectively.

As IMD had issued a red alert till Friday morning, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district, Kurma Rao had declared a day holiday for Anganwadis, Schools, and PU Colleges.
