Health Minister lauds Uttara Kannada’s COVID initiatives

• Health Minister Dr Sudhakar appreciates the efforts of Uttara Kannada, Haveri and Dharwad districts.
• These districts have positivity rate of 0.2 per cent, 0.3 per cent and 1 per cent.
• They have tested more people than the target

Karwar, Oct 28: The efforts of elected representatives, COVID warriors, and District Administration headed by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar in the fight against COVID has shown its results.

The success of the Uttara Kannada district has received appreciation by state Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Sudhakar.

Despite being one of the first districts to record COVID cases in the state, Uttara Kannada district has succeeded in controlling the cases greatly. The district is conducting COVID tests much more than the target, and as a result, it has the lowest positivity rate of 0.2 percent.

Total death: 163

Dr. Sudhakar in a tweet on Wednesday morning mentioned Haveri, Uttara Kannada, and Dharwad districts were conducting tests more than the target and also recorded the low positivity rates of 0.3 percent, 0.2 percent, and 1 percent.
He acknowledged the efforts of the COVID warriors, District Administration, and Incharge Ministers of the three districts for this achievement.

Dr. Sudhkar tagged the in-charge ministers of these three districts- Basavaraj Bommai, Shivaram Hebbar, and Jagadish Shettar to the tweet.

Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada was the first Town to witness COVID cases in the region.

But the proactive measures taken by the administration led by Incharge Minister Shivaram Hebbar and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar has succeeded in ensuring that the number of cases was controlled.

While the health emergency in Bhatkal helped in controlling the COVID cases there, the regular health survey and strict vigil by the health department, ASHA and Anganwadi workers helped in quick identification of COVID cases.

The death rate in the district also is one of the lowest in the state.

While the elected representatives and officials of the district did not go for publicity about their achievement, their steps were being appreciated by the people. Now Health Minister’s tweet has certified the efforts by these districts.
