DC Directs Officials to Expedite Beneficiary Selection Process

Mangaluru, June 20, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Darshan HV has directed concerned departments to swiftly complete the beneficiary selection process for various schemes offered by government corporations, ensuring timely sanction of facilities.
Chairing a meeting of various social welfare committees at the DC office on Friday, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need to avoid delays in document verification, site inspections, and other processes that hinder the timely delivery of benefits to eligible recipients. He suggested conducting home visits only when necessary to speed up approvals.
To ensure fair selection across taluks, he said taluk-wise beneficiary identification will be considered. He also noted concerns over banks rejecting loan applications under bank-linked schemes due to low CIBIL scores, stating that the issue would be discussed with bank officials.
The DC further instructed urban local bodies to report any accidents or deaths involving civic workers to his office within 24 hours and directed that welfare benefits provided to urban workers must also extend to those in gram panchayats. Compensation funds for civic workers must not be diverted, he warned.
Additional DC Dr. G. Santhosh urged departments to expedite beneficiary selection under SCP/TSP schemes and utilize funds within the time limit.
Social Welfare Department Deputy Director Hemalatha reported that 24 atrocity cases were registered in the district till May 2025, and compensation totaling ₹22.10 lakh had been disbursed in 16 cases.
ZP Deputy Secretary Jayalakshmi, DCP Siddharth Goel, Puttur Sub-Divisional Officer Stella Varghese, and others attended.
The day also saw meetings of the SC/ST Awareness and Vigilance Committee, the District-Level Safai Karmachari Rehabilitation Committee, the Nomadic Tribes Development Committee, and the SCP/TSP programme review.
