Mangaluru, June 12, 2025: Following continued heavy rainfall and an Orange Alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department, the Dakshina Kannada District Disaster Management Authority has declared a holiday on Wednesday, June 12, for all Anganwadi centres, primary and high schools, as well as government-aided and private educational institutions across the district.

The district administration has urged parents to ensure children do not venture near low-lying areas, lakes, riversides or the seashore. Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea. District and taluk-level officials have been directed to remain at their headquarters and be available for immediate disaster response duties. Nodal officers appointed in various areas must stay alert and respond promptly to public complaints, while maintaining constant communication with the District Control Room.

Tourists and the general public have also been advised against visiting beaches or riversides during this period. Concerned department officials have been instructed to set up care centres in each taluk and remain prepared for any emergencies.
