Karwar, June 12, 2025: In view of the Red Alert issued by the India Meteorological Department for Uttara Kannada district, the district administration has declared a holiday for all Anganwadi centres, primary and high schools in Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar, and Bhatkal taluks on June 12, 2025, as a precautionary measure.

The order was issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada, citing continuous heavy rainfall and the need to ensure the safety of children. The decision also considers a formal request made by the Department of Women and Child Development.

The holiday applies only to June 12 and is limited to educational institutions operating in the five taluks mentioned. Authorities have been instructed to strictly implement the order and to make necessary adjustments to the academic calendar to compensate for the lost day.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Public Instruction and the Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development Department in Karwar have been directed to take immediate action and ensure full compliance with the directive.
