Mangaluru, Feb 19, 2025: The poetry collection Belaku, the second book by poet Karunakar Balkur, was released at a special event held at the Town Hall under the aegis of the Rangasangati Cultural Foundation. The book was unveiled by Arehole Pratishtana founder Sri Arehole Sadashiva Rao.

Kannada lecturer Sanjay Bilikikoppa from Govt PU College, Siddakatte, Bantwal, introduced the poetry collection, highlighting its depth and literary significance. The event featured Rangasangati Cultural Foundation’s Shashiraj Rao Kavoor, poet Karunakar Balkur, Shilpa K Balkur, Atharva K Balkur, and Advaith K Balkur. Kannada lecturer Raghu Idkidu from Canara P.U. College compered the program, while singer Pushpalatha Karanth rendered select poems as songs.

Speaking at the event, Arehole Sadashiva Rao described Belaku as a profound collection, emphasizing that parents serve as guiding lights for their children, a theme that resonates through the poems.

Introducing the book, Sanjay Bilikikoppa remarked that while light exists, for some, it may appear as darkness. He noted that Balkur’s poetry helps convey this essence, using simple yet impactful language to explore contemporary themes, contradictions, nature, and global messages. He also highlighted that Belaku features a foreword by renowned writer Dr. B.A. Vivek Rai.
