Kittur Rani Chennamma Jayanti Celebrated in Mangaluru
Mangaluru, Oct 23, 2024: Kittur Rani Chennamma Jayanti was celebrated at MAPS College, Mangaluru, in collaboration with the district administration and the Department of Kannada and Culture.
The event was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp, followed by floral tributes to the portrait of Rani Chennamma.
Speaking on the occasion writer Bennett G. Ammanna highlighted the historical significance of Kittur Rani Chennamma, describing her as a valiant woman who sacrificed her life in the fight for India’s freedom 200 years ago and is remembered as an immortal figure in history.
Presiding over the event, College Principal Shruti Shetty remarked that such programs inspire students and ensure that the contributions of freedom fighters remain eternal on this land.
Assistant Director of the Department of Kannada and Culture, Rajesh, delivered the introductory address, while Vice Principal Dr. Prabhakar Neermarga welcomed the gathering. The vote of thanks was delivered by student Manvitha.
