Udupi, Sept 13, 2024: As Karnataka celebrates 50 years of statehood, Paryaya Puthige Peetadhipati Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Sripadaru extended his blessings, wishing that the Kannada language remains the lifeblood of Kannadigas across the state.

The Swamiji inaugurated a painting competition for children organized by the Public Education Department and Artist Forum under the auspices of the district administration and Kannada and Culture Department. The event was part of the Suvarna Sambhrama celebrations at the Rajangana of Sri Krishna Math.

In his address, Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji emphasized that participation in competitions is more important than winning prizes. He encouraged the children to cultivate a competitive spirit and engage actively in such events.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. K. Vidya Kumari, who presided over the event, highlighted the significance of fostering multi-lingual and multi-cultural skills among students. She noted that the district administration has organized various competitions for school and college students in anticipation of the upcoming multi-cultural festival in Mangaluru.

She urged students to actively participate in these competitions to embrace national festivals, customs, and culture, contributing to a well-cultured citizenry.

Prizes for the district-level painting competition include a first prize of ₹3,000, a second prize of ₹2,000, and a third prize of ₹1,000 in cash. Additionally, five consolation prizes and certificates of appreciation will be awarded to all participating students at a regional event in Mangalore.

The Artist Forum presented cash prizes to the winners of the painting competition during the event. Attendees included Karnataka Yakshagana Academy President Dr. Talluru Shivaram Shetty, Deputy Director of the Public Education Department Ganapathi, District Education Officer Ashok Kamath, Artist Forum Udupi Secretary Sakhu Pangala, and Matha Secretary Prasannacharya.

Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture Department, Purnima, delivered the welcome address, while Sri Krishna Math’s Cultural Secretary Ramesh Bhat extended the vote of thanks.
