Udupi, Feb 02, 2025: The centuries-old Sri Ananthasana Sri Lakshmi Anantha Padmanabha Temple in Paniyadi, under the administration of Sri Puttige Matha, witnessed a grand Ratha Samarpana (chariot dedication) ceremony, marking the completion of a new chariot built at a cost exceeding ₹20 lakh, made possible by the contributions of devotees.

The event began with Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji, the seer of Paryaya Puttige Matha, and junior seer Sri Sushreendra Tirtha Swamiji flagging off the chariot procession near Geeta Mandir. The chariot, adorned with traditional decorations, moved through the Sri Krishna Matha parking area, passing through Kadiyali, accompanied by devotees in vibrant traditional attire.

Upon reaching the temple premises, the chariot was dedicated to Lord Ananthasana by Sri Vishwapriya Tirtha Swamiji of Adamaru Matha, amidst a large gathering of devotees. In his address, the seer emphasized that just as a chariot carries the deity, the human body is also a divine chariot granted by God. He expressed his blessings, hoping that the dedication of the new chariot would bring prosperity and fulfillment to the devotees.

The event also honored the craftsmanship of sculptor Parameshwara Acharya, who built the intricately designed wooden chariot. He was felicitated by the seer with a shawl and temple prasadam in recognition of his work.

Several prominent figures attended the ceremony, including Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna, Sri Puttige Matha’s International Secretary Prasanna Acharya, Kanchan Motors’ Prasad Raj Kanchan, noted astrologer Vidwan Gopal Jois, municipal councilor Girish Anchan, Indrali Jayakar Shetty, and Kadiyali Mahishamardini Temple President Vijayraghav Rao. Senior advocate Ramachandra Adiga was also present.

Diwan Nagaracharya presented an overview of the temple administration’s initiatives, while Vidwan Sunilacharya welcomed the gathering and conducted the proceedings. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Sri Raghavendra Bhat of the temple renovation committee.
