Mangaluru, March 03, 2024: The Department of Clinical Psychology at Srinivas Institute of Allied Health Sciences hosted a one-day workshop titled “Understanding Mindfulness in Rhythmic Movements” In collaboration with RGUHS and KAPHA on February 28, 2024.

Esteemed speakers Dr. Vaishalee and Anagha Deshmukh, Assistant Professors from the Department of Clinical Psychology at MCHP, MAE, Manipal, served as resource persons for the event.

The program was officially inaugurated by Dr. Raghavendra Rao, the Chancellor of Srinivas University, who emphasized the crucial role psychologists play in the modern era and the commitment required to enhance societal mental health.

Dignitaries Dr. Sathyanarayana Reddy, Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Anilkumar, Registrar, graced the inaugural function. Asha N, Course Coordinator of the Department of Clinical Psychology, extended a warm welcome to the gathering.

The workshop was moderated by Anjali KS, and Nisha K R delivered the vote of thanks. The day featured insightful discussions and practical learning, highlighting the institute’s dedication to excellence in allied health sciences.

Dr. Vaishalee’s session explored theoretical aspects of mindfulness, defining Third Wave Therapies and elucidating the essence of mindfulness. The afternoon session, led by Anagha Deshmukh, focused on hands-on exploration and practical applications of mindfulness techniques, allowing participants to deepen their understanding through interactive demonstrations.

Dr. Mithun S, from the Department of Psychiatry, SIMS & RC, was the chief guest of the valedictory function in the eveing. Joining him were Professor Pavana Krishnamoorthy, Dean of IAHS, SU, and the resource persons for the workshop, Dr. Vaishalee and Anagha Deshmukh, alongside Asha N, Course Coordinator of the Department of Clinical Psychology.
