DC Advocates Vital Amenities for Koraga Community Hamlets in Udupi
Udupi, Jan 04, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Dr. K Vidya Kumari has issued directives to officials to ensure the provision of essential amenities, including roads, drinking water, electricity, healthcare, connectivity, and other facilities to the hamlets of the Koraga community.
Dr. Vidya Kumari made these statements while presiding over an inter-departmental coordination meeting focused on the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan scheme. The meeting took place at the office hall in Rajathadri, Manipal, on Tuesday.
Emphasizing the importance of proper implementation of government schemes for the welfare and holistic development of adivasis and tribals, Dr. Vidya Kumari stressed the need to create awareness among the predominantly illiterate Koraga community members and ensure their active participation in these initiatives.
She urged officials to identify villages inhabited by particularly vulnerable tribal groups and coordinate with various departments to provide them with the necessary healthcare under the scheme.
The scheme encompasses primary health services, such as the sickle cell campaign, Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis programme, National TB Eradication Programme, Rashtriya Surakshit Matmatritva Abhiyan programme, and distribution of ABRK cards specifically tailored for special vulnerable tribal groups.
The meeting saw the participation of several key officials.
