Manipal, Dec 10, 2023: In a groundbreaking collaboration between Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and the Indian Council of World Affairs, the Dr. TMA Pai 125th Birth Anniversary Conference is set to take place at the MIC Auditorium in Manipal, India, on December 11th and 12th, 2023.

The event is organized by the Department of Geopolitics and International Relations (DGIR), Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Sciences (GCPAS), and Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC).

This two-day conference will delve into critical themes surrounding India’s role in international security, peace, and the media’s impact on shaping global narratives. Six technical sessions will cover diverse topics, including India’s involvement with the United Nations, the multifaceted repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and the media’s role in international security and peace. Experts, academics, policymakers, media professionals, diplomats, and representatives from corporate entities and inter-governmental organizations will contribute to the discussions.

The inaugural session’s keynote address will be delivered by Ambassador P S Raghavan, Chairman of the National Security Advisory Board and Former Ambassador to Russia, Czech Republic, and Ireland. Ambassador Pankaj Saran, Convenor of NatStrat, Former Deputy National Security Advisor of India, and Former Ambassador to Russia and Bangladesh, will deliver the Valedictory Address. University officials, including Lt Gen (Dr.) MD Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of MAHE, Prof (Dr.) P Giridhar Kini, Registrar of MAHE, and heads of organizing institutions such as Prof KP Vijayalakshmi, Head of DGIR, MAHE, Prof Varadesh Hiragange, Head of GCPAS, MAHE, and Prof Padma Rani, Director of MIC, MAHE, will preside over the event.

Commemorating Dr. T M A Pai’s 125th birth anniversary, the conference pays tribute to his significant contributions to education and healthcare, integral to Manipal’s identity. It aims to explore the interdisciplinary nature of knowledge in today’s society, echoing Dr. Pai’s legacy of excellence across liberal arts, social sciences, management, and humanities, resonating in MAHE’s globally recognized institutions.
