Udupi Gears Up for Critical Foot and Mouth Disease Vaccination Drive
Udupi, September 21, 2023: Udupi DC Dr. K Vidya Kumari announced the commencement of the fourth round of the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination program. This initiative is part of the National Livestock Diseases Control Program and is slated to run from September 26 to October 25.
Dr. Vidya Kumari made this announcement while presiding over a meeting of the district-level foot and mouth disease management committee at the DC’s office in Rajathadri, Manipal, on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the DC emphasized the importance of a flawless execution of the vaccination program. She directed officials to leave no room for oversight and urged cattle owners to promptly contact the nearest veterinary doctor if their cattle are not vaccinated during this period. It is imperative to ensure that all cattle receive this crucial protection.
The meeting was attended by Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prasanna H, Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Department Dr. B.S. Shankar Shetty, and various officers responsible for implementing the program at the district level.
