Sacred Ritual of Tapta Mudradharana Inspires Devotees in Udupi
Udupi, June 29, 2023: “Tapta Mudradharana” was held at Udupi Sri Krishna Matha on the auspicious occasion of “Deva Shayani Ekadashi” today.
This ritual involves the stamping of the revered Shankha and Chakra symbols, representing the divine weapons of Sri Vishnu, onto the bodies of devoted individuals. This practice usually takes place bi-annually, specifically on Devashayani Ekadashi and Devaprabodhini Ekadashi, coinciding with the festival of Deepavali.
Swamijis of Madhva Matha diligently perform the Mudradharana ceremony on this day, spreading its sanctity to various locations within and beyond the district, including Bengaluru and Mysuru.
Commencing with the Sudarshana Homa, which was offered by chief priest Srinivasa Upadhyaya of the Paryaya Matha, Paryaya Peetadhipathi, Sri Vidyasagara Tirtha Sripadaru, proceeded to imprint the sacred Shankha and Chakra Mudras onto his arms, other seers the arms of devotees.
Joining this sacred occasion were Sri Vidyavallabha Tirtha Sripadaru of Kaniyoor Matha, Sri Eshapriya Tirtha Sripadaru of Adamaru Matha, and Sri Vedavardhana Tirtha Sripadaru of Shirooru Matha.
Meanwhile, Swmaijis of Palimaru, Sode, and Pejawar held Mudradharana in Bengaluru.
