Mangaluru, June 08, 2023: Srinivas University Institute of Engineering and Technology, in conjunction with The Karnataka Pollution Control Board, Mangaluru, spearheaded a cleanliness drive on Sasihitlu beach on June 5.

The event was held as part of the Environmental Day celebrations.

About 250 first-year engineering students joined forces to meticulously clean the Sasihitlu beach, diligently removing plastic waste and garbage. Their efforts were complemented by endeavors to raise awareness about environmental pollution among the residents of Sasihitlu village.

In the evening of June 5, a two-hour “shramdaan” (voluntary labor) was conducted.

Karnataka Pollution Control Board’s senior environmental officer, Vijay Hegde, environmental officer Dr. Ravi, and co-environment officer Manju actively participated in the event, engaging children and locals to promote environmental consciousness.

The villagers of Sasihitlu expressed their appreciation for the dedicated work of the engineering students.

The event witnessed the presence of Prof. Dr. Naveen Kumar J.R. Krishna Kaushik, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication at Mukka Srinivasa College of Engineering, as well as the warden Umesh, Malathi, and Sujatha.

Officials from various departments of the Environmental Control Board enthusiastically joined forces at the event. Dr. Praveen B.M. effectively oversaw the program, assuming responsibility for its execution.
