Mangaluru: Police initiate probe in rickshaw explosion
Mangaluru, Nov 20, 2022: Police department has started investigating the explosion that took place in a rickshaw at Naguri on Saturday.
An explosion in an autorickshaw injured the driver and passenger on Saturday around 4.30 pm. The police who started the investigation found this to be an act of terror.
Karnataka State DG-IPG stated this in a tweet on Sunday morning.
Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said that the police and central agencies will probe the case.
While the driver has sustained injuries, the passenger has received serious injuries and is under observation.
Meanwhile, it has also come to light that the passenger had tried to hide his identity by using a fake Aadhar card.
Sources said that the passenger had come from Mysuru to Mangaluru and boarded the rickshaw somewhere near Naguri when the incident happened. The place where the passenger wanted to go is not yet clear.
ADGP (Law and Order) Alok Kumar arrived in Mangaluru on Sunday night. He is guiding the police officials in investigating the case.
The police want to take the statement from the passenger, once his condition recovers. Meanwhile, the police officials are also making all efforts to identify the passenger.
