Kasturba Hospital Manipal observes World Stroke Day
Stroke Health awareness Sand Art Sculpture unveiled at Malpe Beach
Manipal, Oct 29, 2022: Department of Neuro Sciences, Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Manipal observed World Stroke Day in a unique way by unveiling the stroke health awareness Sand Art Sculpture at Malpe Beach.
Dr Sharath K Rao, Dean, KMC Manipal unveiled the Sand sculpture.
“A stroke is when blood clot happens in the brain. About 33 percent of people die from it and another 33 percent suffer permanent disability. A balanced diet and exercise play an important role in controlling this,” he said.

“If you reach the hospital with in 4-5 hours, after seeing the symptoms of the stroke, the chances of complete recovery are high,” he added.
Dr Anand Venugopal- Chief Operating Officer, Teaching Hospital, MAHE, Manipal, Dr Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent Dr Aparna R Pai, Head – Department of Neurology and Dr Girish Menon R Head- Department of Neuro Surgery and Other staffs were present.

Dr Aparna R Pai welcomed the gathering. Dr Girish Menon R gave an overview on Stroke and Stroke Day. Dr Sripadma V compered the program.
World Stroke Day is observed every year on October 29 to reduce the incidence of stroke across the world. World Stroke Day is an opportunity to raise awareness of the serious nature and high rates of stroke and talk about ways in which we can reduce the burden of stroke through better public awareness of the risk factors and signs of stroke.
