Karnataka Naval Area organizes Freedom Run @ 75
Karwar, Aug 06, 2022: Headquarters, Karnataka Naval Area organized Freedom Run @75 as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations on Aug 6.
The event was organised in two categories viz. 5 km and 10 km within the Naval Base to cater for a wide spectrum of participants.
As many as 750 participants including personnel from Indian Navy, their families and 75 enthusiastic students of Karwar colleges stepped out to make the event a success. The event was flagged off by Rear Admiral Atul Anand, Flag Officer Commanding Karnataka Naval Area.
The freedom run by the Naval and local community of Karwar, aimed to encourage and spread the message of fitness and health also provide an insight into the Indian Navy and its role in nation building, to the local youth. All the participants ranging from five years to 81 years showed great enthusiasm and gusto during the freedom run.
The event culminated with felicitation of septuagenarians (70 years and above) for their whole hearted participation and attractive prizes were distributed to the podium finishers.

Winners of Freedom run @ IDC -22 for 10 Km are as follows:-
(a) Open women category
Winner – Capt Parvathi, Unit – MES, Timing – 67:44 sec
Ist Runner up – Ms Megha Parsons, KIMS College Karwar, Timing: 68:30
2nd Runner up – Lt Cdr Bushra Shaik, Unit – INS Vikramaditya, Timing: 69:25
(b) Open men category
Winner – MS Jani, COM I, Unit – INS Makar, Timing – 41:46 sec
Ist Runner up – Kumar V, LOG II, Unit – INS Makar, Timing: 42:20
2nd Runner up – Govind, LOG I , Unit – INS Tillanchang, Timing: 43:20
The most elderly participant of the freedom run was Shri Haridutt Pande, Age- 81 years.
