Belthangady: Man arrested on murder charges
Mangaluru, July 24, 2022: Officials of Dharmasthala Police station have arrested a person for allegedly robbing an elderly woman and murdering her at Belal in Belthangady Taluk.
On July 23, 85-year-old Akku was found murdered at her house in Belal when she was alone. Her son and daughter-in-law had been to work and her granddaughter had gone to school. Akku’s earrings were robbed.
Based on the complaint filed by Akku’s son Deekayya, Dharmasthala Police had registered a case under IPC Section 302 (Murder) and 397 (Robbery, or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt).
The police on Sunday arrested Ashok (32) at Somanthadka. He is the nephew of Deekayya’s wife.
