Shirva, June 05, 2022: Vanamahotsava program was held at St Mary’s College, Shirva on the occasion of World Environment Day.

The program was organized by the NCC Army Wing of the College and 21 Karnataka Battalion NCC Udupi.

In his address, Dr. Herald Ivan Monis, Principal, St Mary’s College, stressed the importance of environmental conservation.

“It is the duty of every citizen to protect and nurture nature. We are seeing a changing environment in recent times. If we do not protect our environment and nurture plants, the future generation will face many challenges. NCC cadets should organize such events and set an example for others for the betterment of the society,” he said.

On the occasion, Cadet Ashish Prasad was felicitated for participating in the Inter-Group Shooting Competition training held in Bengaluru.

College NCC Officer Lieutenant K Praveen Kumar administered the pledge of World Environment Day and guided the event. Cadet Sushmita S Amin explained the importance and purpose of World Environment Day.

Student Welfare Officer Lecturer Yashoda, Senior Under Officer Vishal S Moolya, Junior Under Officer Harshita, and Suraksha were present on the occasion. Company Sergeant Quartermaster Mohita N Salian, Corporal Dheeraj, Anup Nayak, and others cooperated. Cadet Varshita welcomed and cadet Pooja delivered the vote of thanks. Lance Corporal Lobo Ann Ria Neville hosted the program.
