Advantage Apprenticeship Awareness Program held
Mangaluru, May 24, 2022: The District level Advantage Apprenticeship Awareness Program was held at Hotel Deepa Comforts in Mangaluru on May 24.
The program was held in partnership with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, National Skills Development Corporation.
Support Measures will specifically aim to improve the participation of MSMEs, district and cluster level industry associations and chambers, and women in the apprenticeship scheme. In Karnataka, UNDP has partnered with Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) & Department of Industrial Training & Employment to jointly organize a district-level awareness program to promote apprenticeship.
Isaac Vas, President of Kanara Industries Association (KIA), Industry Cluster, Mangaluru welcomed the gathering.
Hemachandra, District Skill Development Officer addressed the gathering about the overview of District skill development and apprenticeship promotional activities, Shashidhar Pai Maroor, President, Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Athmika Amin, Secretary KIA, and Rachana Shetty (UNDP) were present on the dias.
Balakrishna, government ITI principal, Prakash Kalbavi, Chairman of STRIVE (Skills Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement), Jaya Chandran, UNDP state head, Umesh Mahadevappa, EDA, Shivakumar KM, Deeksah N, Lydia UNDP staff, and many other industrialists and institutional representatives were part of the event.
The meeting witnessed more than 60 participants from various backgrounds and areas including Government, Private Sector, Industry Associations, Employers, Students and Academicians, Educators, Mentors, and NGOs.
As one of the key highlights, the resourceful discussion was witnessed by the participants at the meeting, and the discussion focused on Apprenticeship reforms and implementation including National Apprenticeship Promotion schemes. The event also focused on supporting organizations & educational institutions to reap the benefits of Apprenticeship training to its full potential, facilitating innovations in earn while learn-based learning systems.
The conference concluded with a formal vote of thanks.
