Karwar contractors oppose single tendering of works

Karwar, Jan 17, 2022: The Karwar Taluk Registered Contractors Association has strongly objected to the single tendering of 39 works in Karwar Municipality.

Association president Madhav B Nayak submitted a memorandum in connection to this to the Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada today.

“The Contractors are hit by the pandemic. Recently we came to know that works worth Rs 1294.92 lakh will be undertaken in Karwar Municipality limits under the Nagarothana project. As many as 39 works will be undertaken. But sadly the Municipal Administration Directorate has decided to include all these works in a package and call for a single tender,” he said.

“We strongly object to this. If all each work is undertaken under a different tender, it would help many contractors. Also, the work will be completed at the earliest. But if they are included in a single then it would not only slow down the speed but also would hit many contractors. We are already suffering due to the effects of the pandemic. Thus we request the district administration to help us,” he added.
