St Mary’s College organizes Punith Sagar awareness program
The program was organized as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava by the NCC unit of the College, and 21 Karnataka Battalion Udupi
Shirva Dec 28, 2021: “A clean environment ensures elimination of many diseases. The NCC cadets who have involved themselves in the beach clean-up program have demonstrated the responsibility of a responsible citizen,” said Dr. Herald Ivan Monis, Principal, St Mary’s College Shirva.
He was speaking at ‘Punith Sagar,’- the Beach Cleaning Program held at Kaup beach today.
The program was organized as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava by the NCC unit of the College, and 21 Karnataka Battalion Udupi.
35 cadets from the college enthusiastically participated in the beach clean-up drive. About 400kg of plastic and trash were collected and handed over to the cleaning crew of Kapu Municipality. The student-created awareness by cleaning the environment.
“The dream of a clean India can be realized when people involved in maritime business show their responsibility in ensuring cleanliness and educating the tourists,” he said.
NCC Unit Associate Officer Lieutenant K Praveen Kumar spoke about the program.
“Today the country is making progress in all sectors. But they do not comply with cleanliness. The disposal of plastic and wastes causes pollution and also harms livestock, aquatic and humankind. As a result, we witness marine pollution,” Lieutenant K Praveen Kumar said.
Student Welfare Officer Yashodha, final year Degree student Suraksha, Cadet Senior Under Officer Vishal S Moolya, Junior Under Officer Harshitha, Company Sergeant Quartermaster Mohit N Saliyan, Corporal Dheeraj Acharya were present and assisted the drive.
Junior Under-Officer Suraksha welcomed and Lance Corporal Lobo Ria Neville Pinto proposed the vote of thanks.
