COTPA violation: 20 cases booked in Mangaluru
Mangaluru, Oct 22, 2021: Officials have booked 20 cases of COTPA Act violation and collected a fine of Rs 3,500 during a surprise inspection near Deralakatte Medical College on October 21.
The officials visited the shops within a 100-meter radius of the campus and found violations of The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA). As many as 20 cases were filed and Rs 3,500 was collected as a fine. The shops were asked to compulsorily display the ‘No Smoking’ board.
The operation was conducted by a team led by Mangaluru Taluk Health officer Dr. Sujai along with the Konaje Police. District Tobacco Control Cell advisor Dr. Hanumantharayappa, social worker Shruthi Salyan, Health Inspector Pradeep, and police officials participated.
