Shiradi Ghat opens for heavy vehicles
Mangaluru, Aug 22, 2021: Hassan Deputy Commissioner has issued an order allowing Heavy vehicles above 20 tons on Shiradi Ghat from today.
Due to a landslide near Donigal near Shiradi Ghat last month, the Hassan Deputy Commissioner had restricted the movement of the vehicles on NH 75 at Shiradi Ghat.

Last week the DC had allowed light vehicles and those below 20 tons to take this route during the day. Yesterday the DCs of Dakshina Kannada and Hassan undertook a joint inspection of the spot and saw the repair and restoration work.
Following NHAI Project Director’s recommendations, the Deputy Commissioner has issued fresh orders allowing all vehicles on Shiradi Ghat from 6 am to 6 pm.

Permitted Light Vehicles (Group A):
Cars, Jeep, Tempo, LCV (Mini Van), Two-wheelers, Ambulance, Public transport buses, Rajahamsa, Airavath, and 20-ton capacity goods vehicle and 6 wheel vehicles.

Permitted Heavy Vehicle (Group B)
Bullet tankers, Ship Cargo Containers, Long Chassis Vehicles, Heavy Commercial Vehicles, Multi Axel Truck Trailer, goods vehicles above 20 ton and all types of heavy vehicles.
All these vehicles are allowed from 6 am to 6 pm from August 22. At the stretch where the work was recently taken up, vehicles will be allowed to move in a single lane.
