Now reflector stickers on stray cattle horns
Sirsi, Oct 13: It is common to see policemen putting reflectors on the pillars, walls, and also trees adjacent to the main roads for the safety of people.
But Sirsi police headed by PSI Nagappa have gone one step ahead. As the sunset the police team set out on a special ‘operation,’ not against any criminals, but to save the lives of the people and cattle.
The police team visits all the roads, grounds and also grazing places for the cattle and sticks reflector stickers on their horns.
There are a good number of stray cattle in the region that rest on the vacant lands, fields, and also on the roads. What is worrying the people as well as the policemen are the stray cattle sleeping on the road at night.
Vehicles, particularly those on two-wheelers find it difficult to identify these cattle at night. This has resulted in many accidents seriously injuring people as well as animals.
Taking serious note of this, the Sirsi Market police lead by PSI Nagappa took a drive to stick reflector stickers on the horns of the cattle. These stickers would help the vehicles in knowing the presence of the cattle at a distance.
In the last few days, the team has covered about 130 cattle in the area. The police officials are hopeful that the initiative will help in saving the life of people and cattle.
