All 12 are the primary contacts of P-659. P-659 tested positive on May 5 

Karwar: The coastal town of Bhatkal is in news again with twelve new positive cases on Friday.
People were satisfied that Bhatkal was almost back to normal after the last positive patient was discharged from the Naval hospital last week. But the happiness was shortlived as P-659, an 18-year girl tested positive on May 5.

Of the 12 tested positive on Friday, 10 are family members of P-659, one is a neighbor and the other is a friend.

The positive include a 5-month old child. Also a 3 year, an 11 year and a 12-year-old child.
On May 5 P-659, an 18-year girl from Bhatkal tested positive. As she had Influenza-Like symptoms during the health survey, her sample was collected and sent to the lab. The lab had found her COVID-19 positive.

The Uttara Kannada district administration has found that as there was a medical emergency three family members of P-659 had been to the First Neuro Hospital in Mangaluru on April 20.

The parents had taken their child for the treatment of Convulsion and were in the hospital till 3 pm on April 20 and then returned to Bhatkal.

As the girl did not have any travel history, the district administration had suspected the Mangaluru link to the COVID-19. The swabs of the primary contacts of the girl- all the 10 family members, relatives, and neighbors were sent to the lab. Friday’s report tested 12 positive including those three who had been to Mangaluru.

According to sources, Uttara Kannada MP Anant Kumar Hegde had taken serious note of the positive case in Bhatkal and taken it up with the Dakshina Kannada district administration. Following this, the Dakshina Kannada district administration had shared the details of the patients from Uttara Kannada who had been to the hospital for treatment.

Also Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary had directed the district administration to find the source of all the COVID cases in Dakshina Kannada including the First Neuro.

The morning bulletin states 45 positive in Karnataka.
