SDM Educational Trust Launches ₹2.5 Crore Scholarship Scheme for 2025 Academic Year

Ujire, July 10, 2025: The SDM Educational Trust has earmarked ₹2.5 crore towards student scholarships for the 2025 academic year. The disbursement process for this fund was symbolically launched today by D. Harshendra Kumar, Secretary of the SDM Educational Society, at an event held at the SDM Postgraduate Centre in Ujire.
During the event, the first installment of the scholarship was distributed, covering around 2,000 students. The initiative aims to support meritorious and economically disadvantaged students in their pursuit of higher education.
Addressing the students, Harshendra Kumar emphasized the importance of hard work and character development. “The scholarship is not just financial assistance; it is encouragement for students from underprivileged backgrounds to continue their academic journey. Education should not only brighten your future but also uplift your entire household. Learn the value of hard-earned money and strive to be responsible citizens who shine in society,” he urged.
The scholarship scheme includes beneficiaries from various SDM institutions — around 1,450 students — as well as students from other colleges. Kumar also highlighted SDM’s commitment to the education sector through its range of institutions, including colleges of naturopathy and yogic sciences, engineering, and polytechnic education, which reflect the broader mission of Dharmasthala.
Dr. Vishwanath P., Principal of SDM College, welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory remarks. “Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala, known for its tradition of Chaturdana (the fourfold giving), continues to play a revolutionary role in knowledge dissemination through this scholarship initiative. Since 1985, the SDM Educational Trust has extended scholarships not only to its own students but also to those from various institutions across Karnataka,” he noted.
Other dignitaries present included Dr. Satheeshchandra S., Secretary of SDM Educational Society; Dr. Prashanth Shetty, Principal of SDM College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences; Dr. Soumya B.P., Dean of the SDM Postgraduate Centre; and Dr. Ashok Kumar, Principal of SDM Institute of Technology, who proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Nafeesath P. compered the event.
As per the scholarship structure, eligible students enrolled in professional and postgraduate programmes will receive monthly assistance of ₹1,000 to ₹1,250 for a period of 10 months, directly credited to their bank accounts.
