National Level Conference on Forensic Science held at Srinivas University
Mangaluru, March 24, 2023: The Department of Forensic Science at the Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Srinivas University Mukka, in collaboration with the PG Department of Criminology and Forensic Science at the School of Social Work, Roshini Nilaya, organized a one-day National Level Conference Forensic’s of QD- Challenges and Counter at the Mukka campus on March 18th.
More than 160 eminent Forensic Scientists, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students of Forensic Science, participated in the event. The conference was themed ‘Forensic’s of QD- Challenges and Counter’.
B.T. Obaleshappa, Superintendent District Prison, Mangaluru, was the chief guest of the program.
He addressed the gathering and emphasized the significance of forensic science in modern society. He also shared his experience in dealing with criminals and requested the students and management of Srinivas University to conduct programs for prisoners to transform them and help the prison department by conducting annual medical camps.
Prof. Vineetha Rai, Registrar Evaluation, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, was the guest of honor.
The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by dignitaries on the dais, including Assistant Registrar Dr. Jayashree Bolar, SIMS&RC Dean, Dr. Udaya Kumar Rao, Institute of Allied Health Sciences Deans Dr. Beena HB and Prof Pavana Krishnamoorthy, PG Dept of CFS, SSW Head Dr Saritha D’Souza, Dept of Forensic Medicine Prof and Head, Dr Vrinda J Bhat and Dept of Forensic Science Course Coordinator Swathi D.

The E-Souvenir of the program was released by Prof. Vineetha Rai and Dr. Jayashree Bolar, and they exchanged the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions.
Dr. Jayashree Bolar stated that the university always encourages research and urged students of forensic science to utilize the opportunity and apply the subject for the welfare of people in her presidential address.
Eminent speakers presented the deliberations of the national conference.
Chirag Suvarna, Cyber Security Analyst, Cyber Sapines, Mangaluru, spoke on digital evidence pertaining to questioned documents. Arun Kumar K, Assistant Professor Garden City University Bengaluru, independent consultant and court certified QD Expert, spoke on E-Sign: Analysis, authentication, and admissibility in court.
Fernandes Glorita S, Teaching and Research Assistant, School of Forensic Sciences, National Forensic Science University Goa, spoke on the application of chemical techniques in QD examination. Adv. Udayananda A District Govt Pleader Special public prosecutor, Dept of Customs & Revenue intelligence, GST Govt of India, Mangaluru, delivered a session on the legal perception of documents in questions. Dr. Saritha D’Souza, Head PG Department of CFS, SSW, spoke on future trends in document examination.

A paper presentation competition was also held for delegates on various fields of questioned documents. Amritha G Shetty from SSW Roshini Nilaya won the best paper presentation award, and Joel Joseph was the runner-up.
Dr. Vrinda J Bhat welcomed the gathering, while Swathi D delivered the vote of thanks.
