Udupi, Jan 19, 2021: After the Anti-Cow Slaughter legislation, the state government now is contemplating on setting up Gowshalas in Taluks.

Minister for Animal Husbandry Prabhu B Chauhan spoke about this during his meeting with Sri Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Sripadaru of Pejawara Matha at Udupi today.

Sripadaru who is known for his active involvement in cattle protection had also written to the state government for a need for a strong anti cow slaughter act.

On Tuesday during his visit to Udupi Chauhan had discussions with Sripadaru and spoke about the idea of setting up Gowshalas in Taluk level.

Meanwhile in Mangaluru, the minister who held a review meeting directed officials to create awareness about the Anti Cow slaughter legislation and also strictly enforce it.

“Strict action would be taken against the violators. According to the legislation the violators can be sent to jail for a term of 3-6 years. The fine would be between ₹50 thousand to ₹ 5 lakh for the first time violators and for the second time it would be from ₹1 lakh to ₹10 lakh,” he said.

“Any cattle should be certified by a veterinary doctor while being transported. Food and water necessary for the cattle should be provided in the vehicle. They cannot be transported between 8 pm and 6 am. In addition to this during summer cattle transport is banned also between 11 am and 3 pm,” he added.
