Mangaluru, April 29, 2026: A two-day IEEE International Conference on Emerging Synergy, Science and Technology (ICESST 2026), organised by Srinivas University Institute of Engineering & Technology (SUIET), Mukka, commenced on Wednesday at Hotel Srinivas in Mangaluru.

Eminent Indian space scientist, former Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Padma Shri awardee Shri A. S. Kiran Kumar inaugurated the conference by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The programme was presided over by Hon’ble Chancellor of Srinivas University Dr. A. Srinivas Rao.

Chair, IEEE Mangalore Sub-Section, Dr. Venugopala P. S., Trustee-Member, Board of Governors, Srinivas University, Shri Eshan Rao, and Vice Chancellor of Srinivas University Dr. K. Sathyanarayana Reddy were the Guests of Honour.

Registrar Dr. Anil Kumar, Registrar-Development Dr. Ajay Kumar, Dean of SUIET Mukka Dr. Ramakrishna N. Hegde, Director-Research Dr. Praveen Kumar B. M., and Convener Prof. Gaurav Prasad were present on the dais.

Dr. Ramakrishna N. Hegde delivered the welcome and keynote address.

The conference has received 509 research paper submissions across disciplines including Computer Science Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics and Fundamental Sciences. After a rigorous review process, 152 papers have been selected for presentation by academicians, researchers, industry experts and students from across India and abroad. The event will also feature keynote sessions, expert panel discussions and project exhibitions.

In his address, Dr. Venugopala P. S. highlighted the role of IEEE in promoting quality research and said such conferences provide a strong platform for knowledge sharing and innovation.

Vice Chancellor Dr. K. Sathyanarayana Reddy spoke on the relevance of the Gurukula system, urging students to identify societal problems and develop practical solutions through innovation and research.

Delivering the inaugural address, Shri A. S. Kiran Kumar said rapid advancements in science and technology are reshaping the world and emphasised the need to harness them responsibly. He highlighted India’s progress in space technology and underlined the importance of continuous learning, innovation and knowledge application for societal development. He also cautioned against the misuse of technology and called for its ethical use.

Conference proceedings were released on the occasion.

In his presidential remarks, Dr. A. Srinivas Rao stressed the importance of innovation, practical learning and skill development, noting that technological transformation has significantly enhanced access to information and opportunities. He urged students to focus on conceptual clarity and hands-on training to build competencies for the future.

Dr. Sandhya Shenoy introduced the Chief Guest. Director-Research Dr. Praveen Kumar B. M. delivered the vote of thanks. The invocation was rendered by Ms. Anagha, while the programme was compered by Prof. Rohan Fernandes.

Heads of Departments, faculty members, staff, students and invitees from various colleges, universities and industries were present.
