Five Guarantee Schemes Should Reach Every Eligible Beneficiary: Ashok Kodavoor


Udupi, June 27, 2025: The ambitious Five Guarantee Schemes launched by the state government should benefit every eligible citizen, said Ashok Kodavoor, President of the District Guarantee Scheme Implementation Committee.
He was addressing the district-level review meeting held at the CEO’s office in the Zilla Panchayat complex, Manipal.
The schemes include Anna Bhagya, Shakti, Gruha Jyothi, Gruha Lakshmi, and Yuva Nidhi. Under the Shakti scheme, 2.57 crore women have availed free bus rides, costing the government Rs 90.10 crore. Under Gruha Lakshmi, Rs 2,000 is being transferred monthly to 2.25 lakh women, totaling Rs 870.83 crore since August 2023. Gruha Jyothi has provided free electricity to 2.81 lakh households worth Rs 438.14 crore. Anna Bhagya has transferred Rs 225.65 lakh to 1,98,825 beneficiaries. Yuva Nidhi has enrolled 3,762 youth, with monthly DBT transfers exceeding Rs 5.82 crore.
However, Kodavoor pointed out that some eligible applicants are missing out due to minor documentation issues. Officials must prioritize and assist them. He also emphasized spreading awareness about Yuva Nidhi in colleges.
ZP CEO Prateek Boyel said over 95% of the eligible population has benefited. He stressed documenting success stories and facilitating skill development programs for Yuva Nidhi recipients to promote self-employment.
Committee members Ramesh Kanchen, Dr. Sunitha Shetty, Veena Wagle, Mohan Poojary, Shankar Sherigar, Hariprasad Shetty, Naveenchandra Suvarna, and others participated in the meeting.
