Mangaluru, June 26, 2025: In a heartfelt tribute to those quietly transforming the city’s green landscape, Mangaluru hosted ‘Amara’, a felicitation ceremony that celebrated the individuals, institutions, and organizations driving the city’s tree plantation movement. Held at the Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL), the event was not just a celebration but a reminder of the powerful change that committed citizens can bring to their communities.

The event was graced by Smt. Revathi Kamath, renowned landscaper and environmentalist, who delivered an inspiring keynote. She applauded the dedication of those involved in rejuvenating Mangaluru’s lakes and green spaces, emphasizing that their efforts go far beyond aesthetics — they are acts of environmental responsibility and hope for future generations.

Among those honoured were Mr. Jeeth Milan Roche, Mrs. Ashwini K. Bhat, and Mr. Kishore Attavar, known for their grassroots work in greening urban spaces. The Rotary Club of Mangalore was also recognised, with its President Mr. Ganesh Kodlamogaru, former President Mr. Madhav Suvarna, and Assistant Governor Dr. Ranjan R.K. receiving accolades.

Corporate contributions were acknowledged too, with Mr. Dilesh and Ms. Veenadhari K. from Incture Technologies being felicitated. The role of academia and student volunteers was also celebrated — Dr. Steevan D’Souza from AIMIT College, Prof. Shripriya from Dr. M.V. Shetty Institute of Allied Health Sciences, and NSS students from Swastika National Business School were among those appreciated for their enthusiastic participation.

The event was anchored by Mr. Vijay Moras, Trustee of CFAL, and Prof. Dr. Smitha Hegde, who highlighted the community’s collective success in planting 7,912 trees and woody shrubs across the region.

More than just numbers, the event celebrated a spirit — the shared commitment to making Mangaluru greener, healthier, and more resilient. As the program concluded, there was a renewed pledge to keep the momentum going, to plant more trees, and to deepen the city’s connection with nature.
