Heavy Rains: School Holiday Declared in Dakshina Kannada on June 16

Mangaluru, June 15, 2025: With continuous heavy rainfall lashing Dakshina Kannada and forecasts predicting more intense showers in the coming days, the district administration has declared a red alert and issued precautionary measures to ensure public safety. Parents have been urged to ensure that children stay away from low-lying areas, waterlogged places, riverbanks, lakes, and seashores.
The administration has also directed fishermen not to venture into the sea until further notice. District and taluk-level officials have been instructed to remain at their headquarters and carry out disaster management duties without fail. Incident Commanders appointed at village panchayat and ward levels have been asked to remain alert, respond immediately to public complaints, and maintain constant coordination with the district control room.
Tourists and the general public have been advised to avoid visiting riverbanks and coastal areas. All relevant departments have been instructed to establish care centres at the taluk level and stay in a state of preparedness. The district administration has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any weather-related emergencies to the 24×7 toll-free number 1077 or the control room at 0824-2442590.
