Dakshina Kannada declares holiday for schools, PU students on Aug 1 amid heavy rain forecast

Mangaluru, July 31: The Dakshina Kannada District Disaster Management Authority has declared a holiday on Aug. 1 for anganwadis, schools, pre-university classes up to Class 12, and all ITI and diploma colleges across the district as heavy rainfall is expected to continue, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre.

The order, issued by the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, said the holiday applies to:

• All anganwadis in the district.
• All government, aided and private schools, including residential schools.
• All pre-university colleges for students up to Class 12, including residential PU colleges.
• All ITI and diploma colleges, including residential institutions.
