Mangaluru, Aug 3, 2026: The Dakshina Kannada district administration has declared a holiday for educational institutions across the district on Tuesday, August 4, following forecasts of continued heavy rainfall issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC).

The order, issued by the Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, who is also the Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority, said the holiday has been declared as a precautionary measure in view of the prevailing weather conditions.

According to the notification, all Anganwadi centres, government, aided and private primary and high schools (up to Class 10), including residential schools, will remain closed in Mangaluru, Bantwal, Moodbidri, Mulki and Ullal taluks.

In Puttur, Belthangady, Kadaba and Sullia taluks, the holiday has been extended to Anganwadi centres, all government, aided and private primary and high schools, Pre-University Colleges, ITIs and Diploma colleges (up to Class 12), including residential educational institutions.

The district administration warned that any institution violating the order would face legal action under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
