Over ₹300 Crore Development Works in Karwar-Ankola: MLA Satish Sail

Karwar, Jan. 28, 2025: Over the past one-and-a-half years, development projects worth over ₹300 crore have been implemented in the Karwar-Ankola assembly constituency, according to Karnataka State Marketing Communication and Advertising Ltd (KSMCA) Chairman and Karwar MLA Satish Sail. He instructed officials to ensure all completed projects are inaugurated promptly and mandatory nameplates are installed for all works, completed or ongoing.
Presiding over the Taluk Panchayat KDP meeting held at the Taluk Panchayat Hall on Tuesday, Sail emphasized the importance of effective implementation of the government’s five guarantee schemes to benefit all eligible citizens. He directed officials to prominently display information about these schemes at all government offices, urging them to treat government work as a divine duty.
The MLA highlighted that under the Shakti scheme, 98.78 lakh women in the district have availed free travel, generating revenue of ₹31.14 crore. He also reviewed the arrival of 13 new buses and announced a ₹4 crore allocation for constructing a bus depot in Karwar. Stressing the need for timely project completion, Sail instructed officials to address the shortage of buses by collecting data from each Gram Panchayat and reporting back. Additionally, he proposed selecting bus drivers through oral interviews led by the RTO, KSRTC, and tehsildars to resolve the ongoing driver shortage.
Addressing healthcare concerns, Sail noted vacancies for five lab technicians and 23 junior male health assistants at Kadra and Halga Primary Health Centres. He urged the district health department to fill these positions immediately.
Sail also announced an additional ₹20 crore for the Keravadi bridge project, instructing KRIDL officials to complete it by May-end. He revealed plans for 15 new bridges across the district, expected to reduce air pollution, fuel consumption, and travel time.
With summer approaching, Sail directed officials to address drinking water shortages proactively by utilizing water from Ankona and Bheemkol dams. He also emphasized operationalizing the agricultural market to facilitate the use of farming equipment.
The meeting was attended by Taluk Panchayat Administrative Officer Somasekhar Mesta, Executive Officer Veeranagouda P. Enagagouda, Tehsildar Nischal Noronha, Guarantee Scheme Implementation Committee President Rajendra Rane, and several other officials.
