Mangaluru: Srinivas University Hosts ‘HOG – 2K24’
Mangaluru, Oct 26, 2024: Srinivas University’s Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism held its 33rd annual food festival “HOG – 2K24” on Thursday at its Pandeshwar campus, bringing together students, industry professionals, and faculty to celebrate culinary arts and hospitality.
University Chancellor and A. Shama Rao Foundation President Dr. CA A. Raghavendra Rao presided over the event, noting the institution’s impact since launching its hotel management course in 1988. “Our students consistently bring back achievements from competitions, internships, and jobs, making us proud,” he said.
Mangalore ASG Senior Commandant Virendra Mohan Joshi, the event’s chief guest, urged students to pursue their ambitions in the rapidly expanding hotel industry. “You’ve chosen an institution led by a visionary who will support your goals,” he told attendees.
General Manager of Mangalore Forum Mall, Fiza by Nexus, Aravind Shrivastav, highlighted the course’s role in preparing students for essential hospitality skills, saying, “This program provides knowledge on food, wine, beverages, and service, critical to achieving excellence in the field.”
Also present were Pro-Chancellor Dr. A. Srinivas Rao, Board of Governors Trustee A. Vijayalakshmi R. Rao, Registrar Dr. Anil Kumar, Development Registrar Dr. Ajay Kumar, and other university dignitaries. Student Council President Amog welcomed the gathering, and Catering Secretary Mukunda introduced the food stations. Student Council General Secretary Aishwarya gave the vote of thanks.
The festival, held annually since 1992, is aimed at training students in areas such as sales, marketing, food production, and event management. The event’s attractions included a flaring and juggling show, cultural performances, and a wide selection of dishes.
