Onam Celebrated with Fervour at Expert PU College
Mangaluru, Sept 18, 2024: Expert PU College, Kodialbail, came alive with vibrant colours and cultural festivities as students and staff celebrated Onam, embracing the spirit of Kerala’s harvest festival. The joyous occasion saw the entire campus unite to welcome King Mahabali and mark the season of abundance and prosperity.
The celebration began on a symbolic note with Architect Deepika A Nayak inaugurating the event by lighting the traditional festive lamp. This gesture, filled with cultural significance, set the tone for the day’s festivities.
A highlight of the event was the meticulously designed Pookkalam, a traditional floral arrangement that drew admiration from all attendees. The students put in significant effort to create the intricate design, which became a visual centerpiece of the celebration, showcasing their creativity and teamwork.
In keeping with the cultural richness of the occasion, the college staff performed the traditional Thiruvathirakkali, a graceful dance known for its elegant and rhythmic movements.
The festive spirit extended to attire as well, with the teaching staff donning elegant Kasavu sarees and the male staff dressed in traditional Kaili mundu, immersing themselves fully in the essence of Onam. The sight of everyone in traditional clothing lent a sense of unity and celebration to the event, reinforcing the college’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage.
