Swachhata Hi Seva: Kageri Appeals for Community Effort in District-Wide Cleanliness Drive
Karwar, Sept 13, 2024: Member of Parliament Vishveshwar Hegde Kageri has urged all residents of the district to participate in the Swachhata Hi Seva (Cleanliness is Service) fortnightly campaign, which will commence on September 17. This initiative aims to promote cleanliness and hygiene across both rural and urban areas of the district.
Speaking at a meeting held on Friday at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Kageri emphasized that the primary goal of the campaign is to instill a sense of personal responsibility and civic sense regarding cleanliness. Kageri stressed the importance of raising awareness among citizens about environmental conservation and pollution control. He called on all residents to adopt cleanliness as a daily habit and to view the campaign as an opportunity to contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations.
The MP also recommended that the program should not be limited to government-organized events but should involve collaboration with various voluntary organizations. He suggested that activities be carried out in every ward and street for at least two hours on Gandhi Jayanti, covering both urban and rural areas.
In addition, he proposed raising awareness among self-help group members about waste management and conducting health check-up camps with the support of the health department in all village panchayats. He also mentioned the need to inform all sanitation workers about the benefits available from various departments.
