Manipal, Aug 28, 2024: In a significant contribution towards strengthening local law enforcement, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has donated three high-tech computer systems to the Udupi Town Police Station. This initiative reflects MAHE’s commitment to leveraging its resources for the betterment of the community and supporting law enforcement in addressing modern challenges.

During the handover ceremony, Dr. H.S. Ballal, Pro-Chancellor of MAHE, highlighted the institution’s dedication to public safety, stating, “We are committed to supporting our local police in every way possible. These advanced computer systems will enhance the Udupi Town Police Station’s ability to handle data management and cyber-related tasks more effectively, contributing to a safer community.”

Dr. Narayana Sabhahit, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Technology & Science at MAHE, emphasized the role of technology in modern policing. “Technology is crucial in addressing today’s security challenges. MAHE’s cybersecurity lab at MIT Manipal is equipped to offer police personnel training in the latest techniques. Along with this donation, we are prepared to support the Udupi Town Police with specialized training to tackle digital-age challenges.”

Dr. Raviraja N.S., Chief Operating Officer of Operations at MAHE, underscored the importance of security on the Manipal campus, saying, “With nearly 28,000 students from around the world, safety is our top priority. We appreciate the tireless efforts of the police in maintaining a secure environment. This donation is a small token of our gratitude and support.”

Receiving the donation, Udupi Town Police Sub-Inspector Punith Kumar expressed his gratitude, stating, “We are deeply thankful to MAHE for this contribution. These computer systems will significantly improve our efficiency in managing investigations and handling cases. The support from MAHE is invaluable in helping us serve the community better.”

The formal handover ceremony took place at the MAHE building in Manipal, with several key officials in attendance, including Dr. Vinod C. Nayak, Secretary of the Sports Council; Col. Vijay Bhaskar Reddy, Chief Security Officer; Sandeep Bansal, Director of Information & Technology; Sathish Kamath, Deputy Director of Information & Technology; and Sachin Karanth, Deputy Director of PR and Communications. Representatives from the Udupi Town Police Station were also present.
