Mangaluru: Celebrate Devotion and Talent at ‘Bolava Vitthal’ Concert
Mangaluru, July 11, 2024: The Sangeetha Bharathi Foundation is set to enthrall music lovers from the coastal regions with the much-awaited ‘Bolava Vitthal’ concert, slated for July 21 at 5 pm at the Town Hall. This event, a cultural treasure for the city, promises an evening of soulful abhanga performances by acclaimed artistes.
The previous five editions of the ‘Bolava Vitthal’ concert held in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023 witnessed packed audiences at the Town Hall. The enthralled audience, captivated by the performers, remained seated throughout the three-and-a-half-hour-long musical extravaganza, despite the program being scheduled for three hours. Inspired by the overwhelming response, the artists performed beyond the scheduled time, concluding the concert with a heartfelt rendition of ‘mangal.’
This year, the stage is set once again for a similar musical celebration. The only change is the lineup of artists. Esteemed artists like Sangeetha Katti Kulkarni from Bengaluru, along with Zee Marathi Saregamapa finalists Mugdha Vaishampyan and Prathamesh Laghate, will grace the event with their performances. They will be accompanied by Prasad Padhye on tabla, Sukhad Munde on pakwaj, Suryakant Surve on rhythm, Aditya on harmonium, and Shadaj Godkindi on flute.
Vice-President of the Sangeetha Bharati Foundation, Narendra L Nayak expressed his excitement, saying, “International artistes such as Sangeetha Katti Kulkarni, Mugdha Vaishampayana, and Prathamesh Laghate will perform in the event. The same program, the same concept, and the same purpose continue to inspire our audience.”
‘Bolava Vitthal,’ an innovative saintly program conceptualized by the Pancham Nishad Sangeeth Sansthan, has hosted some of the country’s greatest music concerts. This unique program, celebrating the devotional music of Pandurang worship in the form of abhang, has been organized by the Sangeetha Bharati Foundation since 2018 in Mangaluru. It aims to bring the sacred atmosphere of Pandharpur’s worship to those unable to visit the holy site.
Passes for the ‘Bolava Vitthal’ program will be available at Expert Pre-University College in Kodialbail from Saturday. Only pass holders will be allowed entry to this eagerly anticipated event.
Narendra Nayak remarked, “The program is an opportunity for music lovers to experience different kinds of devotional music. It blends devotion with talent, showcasing the artists’ greatness within a structured time frame, resulting in an unprecedented public response.”
