Collaborative Effort in Manipal Promotes Voter Awareness
Manipal, April 05, 2024: The Election Commission of India, in conjunction with the Udupi District Administration, Sweep Committee, and the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizens, Udupi District, partnered with Asare Special School and Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, to organize a comprehensive election and voter awareness program.
Prateek Bayal, CEO of Udupi Zilla Panchayath, who was the Chief Guest, stressed the significance of voting as not just a right but a responsibility crucial for selecting capable leaders. He emphasized the importance of utilizing polling holidays for voting rather than mere leisure activities.
Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, lauded the proactive efforts of the district administration in promoting voter awareness, recognizing the pivotal role such initiatives play in strengthening democracy.
The program showcased a cultural extravaganza featuring a captivating Yakshagana performance aimed at illustrating the importance of voting. Guests included Rathna Suvarna from the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizens and Anuradha from the Sweep Committee. Students of the special school actively participated in the event, displaying an election awareness poster.
Under the guidance of Shivaji, Project Officer of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizens, attendees took a solemn oath to uphold the integrity of the electoral process. Mohan Shetty, Marketing Manager of Kasturba Hospital, extended a warm welcome to the attendees, while Jai Vitall, President of Asare, delivered the vote of thanks. Ramesh Nayak compered the program.
