Brand Mangaluru Rohan Cup-2024 cricket tournament from Jan 5 to 7
Mangaluru, Jan 03, 2023: In a fitting tribute to the valiant soldier, Captain MV Pranjal, the State-level Brand Mangaluru Rohan Cup-2024 cricket tournament is set to take place from January 5 to 7 at Sahyadri Engineering College Stadium, Adyar. Organized under the auspices of the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists Union, this event aims to honor the memory of Capt MV Pranjal.
Addressing reporters Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Union president Srinivas Nayak Indaje said that a total of 24 teams will compete in the tournament. The State Committee meeting of the Karnataka Working Journalists Association will be held on Jan 5 at 10 am. Following this, the 90th General Body Meeting of KUWJ will convene at Sahyadri College Auditorium at 11 am.
To kick off the festivities, a cultural procession will commence from the stadium entrance at 4 pm. State Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader is scheduled to inaugurate the cricket tournament at 5 pm, with District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao presiding over the function. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will inaugurate the pavilion dedicated to the memory of Capt Pranjal.
The inaugural day will feature a friendly match between two teams, followed by cultural programs by various district teams. The tournament will unfold in a league format over the next two days.
The valedictory function on January 7 will see Sports Minister Nagendra and Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan distributing prizes. Karnataka Working Journalists Union President Shivananda Tagadur will preside over the closing ceremony.
